Bail Bonds Pricing & What To Expect

If you're pricing around for a bond, chances are there's more than one company that is willing to do business with you. Before you can get a solid estimate, there are a few things that an agent must identify during the application phase. One factor would be the severity of your case. What were you arrested for? What was the defendant arrested for? How many times has this person been arrested in the past? Has this person ever been bail bonded out before and if so, did the bond get exonerated or did they skip their bail and now have a warrant out for their arrest? These are just some of the questions that you will be asked during the application process.

Identifying red flags and flight risks is what an agent does during their underwriting for the bail bond liability. At the end of the day you have to remember that as a company, we are dealing with millions of dollars worth of liability each month. If we were to write and approve every client that came our way, the likelihood of our forfeited bonds in court will skyrocket! This is why the application phase is so critical to a companies success and allows us to properly measure how much you will have to spend in order to get approved.

By default, the state of California requires all agents to charge no more than 10% of the face value of the total bond. For example, if you were arrested for a domestic violence felony charge, chances are your bail amount will be $50,000. You will never be charged more than 10% of that $50,000 bond which would come out to $5,000. Many companies will work with you and offer flexible payment plans and down payment assistance if you cannot afford that entire amount all at once.

However, local Temecula Bail Bond agencies are legally allowed to charge their clients fee's for any expenses that are an immediate result of the defendant missing court. These fee's would be bounty hunter expenses, running data reports to locate a client that is on the run and other fee's of that nature.

How Long Will I Be Responsible For The Bond?

As a bail bond cosigner, you will be held liable and responsible for the appearance of our client in court until the case has been dismissed aka exonerated. Aside from court appearances, if you also signed onto the bond as financial support just in case the defendant doesn't pay him monthly payment, you are still held liable for that payment, even after the case has been exonerated in court. Most cases can take anywhere from 3-6 months until completed. If you have any questions about getting yourself off of the legal paperwork as a bail bond cosigner please feel free to call us today if you are a current client.

Many companies will require the client to check in each week to ensure that he or she has not left the county without permission. Check with your bonding company for contractual agreements to ensure that you are not in breach of contract.
So next we're going to talk about how to apply for a bond and some of the requirement we'll need in Temecula.
  1. Employment Is A Must - As a cosigner or defendant, there must be at least one party that is employed and willing to sign on the financial aspect of the case. As a privately owned company, if you decide that you are no longer going to pay, we will be forced to take action via small claims and court. To avoid doing this, we make sure that all cosigners and defendants have a job and can afford bail in the first place.
  2. You Must Know The Defendant - Cosigning for someone to get them out of jail is a serious matter. To avoid fraud and stolen identity, we ask a series of questions to ensure that the cosigner that is in our office actually knows the defendant. Each year, millions of dollars are lost from bail companies due to false cosigners. Keep in mind that if you are caught lying and providing fraudulent information to your agent, you will be at risk of having your bond revoked.
  3. Warrant Are A No No! - If there are multiple cases open for the defendant, chances are we'll be leaning towards not posting the defendants bail for his or her release. There are too many red flags and with open cases, that means that the defendant chose to not go to court in the past. Open bench warrants are a serious indicator that our company is at risk of receiving a forfeiture.
  4. Have a Down Payment - Down payments and the size of the down payment will make or break your chances at posting bail. Out of pocket costs are at about 2-3% of the entire bond amount meaning a $50,000 bond will cost a company roughly around $1,000 to just do business.

Tabatha Smith - 5 Star Google Review: "I first found Justice Bail Bonds on Facebook earlier last year when my nephew was arrested for a DUI with bodily injury. It was a bogus case since nobody, not even himself was injured! The bail was set at $100,000 and the team got me approved with only $2,500 down and one cosigner. Other companies wanted at least half down and 2 employed signers, but as a stay at home mom and my nephew not having any money, this was all I could come up with! Thank you for everything you've done, I truly appreciate you guys."

Jeff Salazar - 5 Star Google Review: "My wife was arrested for a domestic dispute that we had earlier this month. Neighbors called the cops because they heard us yelling. It was an honest mistake and a regular argument that most couples have regarding financing and bills. Cops came and everything seemed to be under control until the chief arrived on the scene. We thought that everything was going to be alright and we'd be able to go back inside our house, but boy were we wrong! 20 minutes later my wife was sent to the Southwest Detention Center and was held on Felony Domestic Violence for $50,000. Justice worked with us and only charged us $1,000 down with monthly payments of just $300 a month. Extremely grateful!"
